 My Approach

I am an integrative psychotherapist , I combine a number of evidence-based psychological and psychotherapeutic theories and approaches, such as – psychodynamic, person-centred, developmental, attachment theory, body-mind integration, inter-personal or relational therapy, trauma therapy and EMDR – and I tailor them to the individual needs of each client I work with.

I am passionate about diversity and I offer an LGBTQ+ inclusive space.

Who I work with

I work with adults 18 years and over, as well as businesses and groups.

Some of the issues I work with frequently are depression, anxiety, life stress, work related stress, relationships, bereavement and loss, physical symptoms linked with emotional difficulties, spirituality, abuse and trauma.

I have a personal interest in working with the relationship to the body size and shape and how this manifests in the relationship with food and eating especially when trauma is involved.



How it works

I offer short-term and long-term sessions via telephone, video and face-to-face. Sessions are 50 or 60 mins and are held weekly, at the same time and place.

Feel free to contact me by email or text. I will arrange an initial free 15-20 min call to discuss what you are looking for. I then offer to book an initial session for me to learn more about you and see if I can offer what you are looking for, and for your to check out if you want to work with me. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist.

The number of sessions depends on the individual and what they would like to work on and achieve. You will start noticing a difference in yourself, if the process is working for you, some people quite quickly, for some it may take some time.

We usually review our work together after 6 sessions or so and discuss what works, what doesn’t, whether you would like to continue and what is the next goal.

 

therapy Options

Counselling

Holds the space for exploring more general issues, perhaps a difficult life event or stressful work or personal relationship situation. Counselling helps explore and understand your thoughts and offers support with your feelings. Generally it involves lower level interventions.

Psychotherapy

Is a process that explores issues and difficulties more deeply. We will look at your issues in the present, in the “here and now”, as well as explore earlier difficult painful perhaps traumatic experiences and their impact on your body and mind today. We can look at behaviour as well as conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings. We will work with the inner child and the impact of childhood experiences on your self-image, self-worth and self-values, with the hope of re-writing the blueprint going forward.

EMDR Trauma Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EDMR) is a comprehensive psychotherapy that helps process negative images, emotions, beliefs and body sensations associated with traumatic memories that seem to be stuck. It involves using side to side eye movements combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format.

 
 

Critical Incident Debrief

An effective debriefing procedure to help normalise the often overwhelming psychological, physiological and emotional responses to minor, moderate and severe critical incidents. It is designed to help deal with trauma one incident at a time, by allowing people to talk about the incident without judgment or criticism.

This service is designed for business and companies that wish to support their employees and colleagues. Sessions are usually 90-minutes in groups of 6-8 people, with 1-1 sessions also available. If you are a business please get in touch for more details.
